PSECCO event/opportunity
Join NSF Office of Polar Program (OPP) Program Officers (supported by PSECCO and IARPC Collaborations) to learn how to write a one-pager to summarize an idea you want to pitch to a funding agency. This workshop series is open to polar early career scientists and will be run in two parts.
This panel discussion was co-organized with the USPA DEI Committee and the Polar Science Early Career Community Office, and the following content is from the USPA website.
At the USPA’s Annual Meeting in December, the USPA announced the launch of the USPA Family Care Program (FCP). The FCP was created to support and recognize the additional financial and logistical burdens placed upon families within the permafrost community.
“A leader is anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes, and who has the courage to develop that potential.” –Brené Brown
Are you wanting to develop concrete leadership skills that can be helpful for managing up and down? Do you hope to prepare yourself to mentor future students or employees, or find ways to effectively lead fieldwork teams or lab groups?
Leaders do not avoid, repress, or deny conflict, but rather see it as an opportunity. -Warren G. Bennis
The second of our three online leadership workshops in 2024 focused on building effective teams and navigating conflict. The recording for this event can be accessed here.
A leader is best when people barely know they exist. When their work is done, their aim fulfilled, the people will say: we did it ourselves. –Lau Tzu
Join PSECCO at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting for a session focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).
Session Description:
Join PSECCO at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting for a talk focused on challenges and needs identified by the polar early career researcher community. The polar regions are experiencing rapid, dramatic impacts due to climate change that require innovative and transdisciplinary solutions, which in turn require a well-supported and connected interdisciplinary community of scientists. PSECCO aims to foster exactly such a diverse, international, and multidisciplinary network of scientists early in their careers.
Are you an early career polar researcher going to the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting? Join other Arctic, Antarctic and high alpine researchers at a social co-hosted by PSECCO, Polar Impact and USAPECS on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 6-8 pm PT.
Join us on the evening of Thursday, November 16 from 5pm to 7pm MT at the Rayback Collective (2775 Valmont Rd. Boulder, CO) to meet other polar early career (and other career) scientists in the region!
Participants will gain an understanding of how to explore ways to be supported professionally and personally, from seeking out traditional mentors to pursuing personal accountability.
