11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The PSECCO conversation series provided an informal 1-hour discussion space for early career scientists to explore a topic of interest with a more experienced researcher with considerable success in the topic area. Participants had the opportunity to steer the conversation by submitting topic-related questions prior to the event.

Topic: Scientific careers in research and academia

Description: Participants discussed the differences and similarities between working as a professional track research scientist versus as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member. Sinéad shared her reflection on working in a variety of research and academic positions over the last 15 years. Participants had the opportunity for Q& A and conversed about their career interests, aspirations, and potential concerns they had as they charted their own path in science.
