Join PSECCO at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting in New Orleans, LA, on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 8.30 am to 12.00 pm CDT.

Session Description:

"The future of polar research depends on the vision of today’s early career researchers, yet their perspectives have often been underrepresented in global priority-setting efforts. This session presents the key findings of the Polar Early Career World Summit (PECWS), which brought together 120 emerging researchers, professionals, Indigenous scholars, and knowledge holders from across the globe. Together, they defined research priorities designed to guide polar science over the next decade and feed directly into the 5th International Polar Year discussions and activities. Organized by the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO) and the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) during ICARP IV / ASSW 2025 in Boulder, Colorado, PECWS used a structured, community-informed process to ensure early career voices were central. Participants, working within twelve thematic groups, engaged in a multi-phase collaborative process that produced 75 research priorities and 186 accompanying rationales and recommended actions. This presentation will share key insights from the PECWS synthesis report, which consolidates outcomes from both physical summit discussions and asynchronous community input."
